Blairsville Borough Blairsville Borough Blairsville, PA Blairsville, PA Part-time Part-time $18 - $20 an hour $18 - $20 an hour 6 days ago 6 days ago 6 days ago ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS Manage and oversee all aspects of parks and recreation, including operations, safety, sanitation, equipment, utilities, coordination of activities and enforcement of rules.
Develop and manage implementation of short- and long-range plans for recreation programs, parks, and facilities.
Responsible for the management and evaluation of current recreation programs as well as the creation and implementation of new recreation programs.
Marketing recreation programs and facilities to enhance community awareness and maximize utilization.
Supervise the Parks and Recreation staff through, scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing work assignments.
Identifying staff development and training/certification requirements and ensuring certifications are maintained and up to date.
Assist in hiring and terminating staff with Borough Manager and in consultation with Parks & Recreation Board.
Review, recommend revisions to, and interpret rules, regulations, laws in consultation with the Borough Manager and Borough Solicitor.
Work with the Borough Manager and the Parks & Recreation Board to develop and administer the Parks and Recreation budget.
Investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions; develop notification letters and other public information materials in consultation with the Borough Manager.
Evaluate equipment for purchase and assist in the development of specifications.
Orders materials and supplies; approves orders of materials and supplies by other staff in accordance with Blairsville Borough purchasing policy.
Coordinate facility and equipment cleaning schedules.
Track and manage all equipment maintenance and repairs.
Work with Parks & Recreation Board and Borough Manager to coordinate equipment bids for equipment upgrades and purchases.
Perform regular equipment testing to ensure proper functionality.
Prepares reports, provides staff support and attends meetings of the Borough Council, Park & Recreation, and other agencies and community groups as required.
Identifies grant opportunities and initiates grant applications in support of the short and long-term goals of Parks and Recreation.
Administers the application of funding received in accordance with applicable grant requirements.
Assists with the inspection of grant construction contracts and ensures compliance with plans and specifications.
Coordinates building and facilities compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including but not limited to ADA requirements and liability prevention measures.
Position subject to all policies and procedures adopted by the Borough of Blairsville QUALIFICATIONS At least (2) years of direct experience in parks & recreation, physical fitness, or organized sports leadership and (2) years of supervisory experience; or an appropriate combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered.
Must live within 20 air miles of the Borough of Blairsville Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work around physical fitness and weight equipment.
Must be able to pass appropriate background checks for working with minors PSP Background Check, Act 153 Must possess or have ability to obtain within ninety days of employment and must maintain Community CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Computer skills, including the use of various computer packages needed to create word processing documents, spreadsheets, timelines, etc.
